Agribusiness
The food processing industry is subject to strict hygiene standards in order to market products that are suitable for consumption without endangering the end consumer.
This food safety requirement is highlighted in EC regulation 178/2002. It is defined by the need for farmers to be able to demonstrate the traceability of all foods used.
An industry faced with hygiene and traceability issues

FOOD TRACEABILITY
The traceability of foodstuffs, animal feed or even incorporated substances is mandatory. Besides the need to inform the consumer, it offers the possibility of recalling specific products in the event of a health issue.

PROVIDING ADDED VALUE
Generally, the producer’s added value focuses on transforming untreated material. These can be cooked, packaged or processed ingredients. Food processing is also subject to a quality and hygiene process.

MACHINE MAINTENANCE
Machines used during the production of foodstuffs are also subject to strict hygiene standards. On top of that, they require numerous maintenance operations to ensure their effective operation and consequently their profitability.

An example of expertise: the dairy industry

The food processing industry, or more precisely dairy, is one of the pioneering industries to use RFID solutions. Since 1993, the European Economic Community has defined new food safety objectives. Beyond these European standards, milk quality and hygiene must be carefully complied with. Traceability and safety have become a huge challenge for farmers, consultancy firms, analytical laboratories, distributors, as well as end customers.

We have specially developed an RFID solution to provide the main industry stakeholders with improved identification and better traceability in the milk quality process. These solutions provide milk sample analysis, from milking to the laboratory, with the integration of customised RFID tags. These are encapsulated in specific containers for milk sampling.
Because of their constant proximity to milk, the tags have been specifically designed as moisture-proof. Likewise, they can tolerate high temperatures in order to withstand tube cleaning cycles.

The aim is to make it possible for producers to develop indicators that are essential to supervise their livestock management in order to guarantee the safety and traceability of their milk.
At the same time, we help dairy analytical laboratories to automate their analysis processes by installing our RFID readers. Containers equipped with RFID technology undergo an analysis procedure in the lab before being cleaned. RFID tag data is then reset so that the tags can be reused.
